Apple Cuts Production Of iPhone 12 Mini

Production plans for the iPhone 12 Mini have been revised significantly. According to a report by Nikkei, Apple over estimated the demand for its iPhone 12 line this year after a strong showing during the holiday season. However, only the Mini will see a significant cut in production by more than 70%, till June.

This isn’t much of a surprise considering that most users favor the larger iPhones due to the bigger screens and batteries. Though the iPhone 12 Mini shares the same hardware as its bigger brothers, its 5.4-inch screen isn’t conducive to productivity. This comes at a time when we’ve all turned to our PCs and smartphones to complete office related tasks.

People aren’t impressed by the smallest iPhone 12 because if a smaller screen is what they are after, the iPhone SE would be the preferred choice. There isn’t much room left for a compact iPhone with very little going for it. Even in the Android space, smartphones with smaller than 6.4-inch screens have almost died out.

I was once a big fan of smartphones with smaller screens. But it has become simply too cumbersome to edit articles, modify mockups and accomplish regular tasks on anything smaller than a 6.2-inch screen. And since the pandemic hit, people have been forced to leaning heavily on what was once an entertainment device, to help them keep their jobs.
