Apple Expands 3rd Party Repair Services
July 9, 2020 Off By Naveen VictorApple says that it is expanding its Independent Repair Provider Program to include additional options for access to repair services. This will allow third party repair companies to have full access to trainings and genuine Apple spare parts, provided that they meet the required criteria for quality and safety.
Since the program’s launch early last year, over 140 of said repair facilities have been included in the list. The program is also open to businesses in Europe and Canada, which will allow them access to free training from Apple and the same genuine parts, tools, repair manuals, and diagnostics as Apple Authorized Service Providers (AASPs) and Apple Store locations.
Cupertino hopes that the inclusion of third-party repair companies in its support group, will improve Apple customers’ access to out-of-warranty services for the iPhone. To verify that a company participates in the program, visit support.apple.com/repair/verify-repair-provider. However, repair work can only be conducted by an Apple-certified technician.

Apple’s repair program is free of charge, meaning businesses that wish to participate will not incur any charges. Over the past year, Cupertino has gradually increased its network of providers which included adding every Best Buy store in the US in its list of Authorized Apple Service Providers (AASP). In total, the company has over 5,000 AASPs in its global network.
The COVID-19 crisis has caused a great deal of disruptions, which include access to Apple’s repair services. This initiative is probably an added response from the company that also includes the option for mail-in repair work.
