Blueair HealthProtect Kills Bacteria And Viruses, Intelligently
March 22, 2021We’ve all become a lot more health conscious in the past year, and have taken a special interest in acquiring effective hand sanitizers and disinfectants. Though this borders on the excessive side for certain hypochondriacs, they generally serve as deterrents against the transmission of germs and viruses via skin contact.
But there’s very little that these chemicals can do against airborne transmission of harmful organisms and viruses. That’s where air purifiers come in handy. Their job is to filter the air in our homes, capturing as much dust and contaminants that could be detrimental to our health. Blueair believes that it makes one of the best ones yet.
It’s called the HealthProtect and it combines three different technologies to offer users better protection against viruses and bacteria. The filter tech, HEPASilent Ultra uses electrostatic and mechanical filtration to remove up to 99.97% of air pollutants such as dust, pollen, dander, mold, VOCs (including formaldehyde), odors and nanoparticles.
The device can capture particles down to 0.03 micrometers, and is rated to complete the filtration job in just 15 minutes. Blueair also says that the system is capable of eliminating up to 99.99% of viruses and bacteria. However, HealthProtect’s efficacy against the Coronavirus hasn’t been tested.
Compared to the competition, HealthProtect is supposed to be 50% better at filtration while using 55% less energy and causing 10% less noise in the process. Even when in standby mode, Blueair’s purifier is still able to keep an eye on things. GermShield, is a system built into the device that uses its temperature and humidity sensors to monitor a room.
It activates the air purification function when the conditions for germ growth are optimal. Blueair says GermShield uses a low draft to ensure that no new germ growth occurs and a plasma charge to deactivate existing viruses and bacteria on the filters. HealthProtect uses SpiralAir outlets to deliver airflow in all directions.
Through the use of the Blueair app, users can control a variety of the device’s functions such as schedule for night mode or real-time pollutant tracking. Even the filters are equipped with smart tech. Their RFID chips monitor filter usage and service life (rated up to 12 months).
They are designed in a form of a booklet, which protects them from contact with the inlet side while changing them. When a filter is due to be replaced, a notification shows up on the app that allows for re-ordering with a push of a button. Designed in Sweden, HealthProtect is available in two sizes.
The 7440i (€ 729.00) and 7470i (€ 899.00) filters the air in rooms up to 38 m² at a rate of 5 air changes per hour (or within 12 minutes), the 7740i (€ 779.00) and 7770i (€ 979.00) in rooms up to 62 m². For more information on the tech visit Blueair’s website.
