Extraction, A ‘Must Watch’ Movie On Netflix

If you’re binge watching movies on Netflix during the lockdown, trust us, you aren’t alone. In fact, here’s one movie that may be of interest to you. It’s called Extraction, and it is an action film directed by Sam Hargrave and stars Chris Hemsworth as the main protagonist.

As the name suggests, the movie revolves around a rescue mission, where Tyler Rake (Chris Hemsworth), a mercenary for-hire, is tasked with rescuing the son of an imprisoned druglord. Rake has to traverse the unsavory underworld of Bangladesh while risking life and limb to recover recover the boy.

Hemsworth’s portrayal of a mentally fractured, former soldier with a penchant for seeking out life-threatening situations, provides insight into the fragmented mind of a damaged soul. Struggling to cope with the loss of his son, Rake throws himself head-first into dangerous situations with the cover that he’s ‘just in it’ for the money.

The story line is laid out pretty well, with decently weighted action sequences, gunfights and downright gory murder scenes. It provides a glimpse into the underworld, where corruption and lawlessness are rife. It’s basically a south Asian adaption of the tv series Narcos. It does a convincing job of portraying the affects drug trade has on a society.

Unlike the smooth and robotic chase scenes depicting in many other movies, Extraction’s sequences employ a healthy dose of camera shake. This helps simulate the actual action taking place in each scene and provides for a more immersive viewing experience. It will be to the liking of movie fans who enjoy the ‘edge of your seat’ action.

Extraction, to us, is limited in depth, but the relative chemistry between characters and the morale dilemma that befalls Tyler Rake, makes for an enthralling movie. If you aren’t convinced, check out the trailer and let us know what you think of it.
