Samsung’s amazing ultraportable 2-in-1 offers more than a day’s worth of battery life. The svelte device weighs a mere 0.96kg (2.1 lbs) and measures 11.8mm at it’s thickest point. Revealed late last year, the Galaxy Book S, with the 13.3-inch FHD screen, is now available for pre-order for the US market.

This might come as shock to some, but the exceptional battery life isn’t due to the unremarkable 42Wh battery. This is the same capacity provided by most mid range laptops. But, the Galaxy Book S is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8cx compute platform with a 7nm 64-bit Octa-core processor (Max. 2.84 GHz + 1.8GHz). It’s this chip that’s responsible for the exceptional battery life.

Sadly, its usefulness is somewhat limited. The usual Windows programs that are built to run on AMD and Intel machines (X86), can’t be used on this Galaxy Book S. But that may change as the popularity of such devices continue to increase over time. The benefits that this platform offer, include Gigabit LTE, as well as an ‘always connected’ and untethered lifestyle.

If you can live with said drawbacks, the Samsung Galaxy Book S is an incredible device that is packed with high-end hardware. Besides the frugal but powerful chip, it also has 8GB RAM and 256/512GB storage with the option of adding a MicroSD card (up to 1TB). There’s also Bluetooth 5.0, Wi-Fi, fingerprint sensor, Windows Hello and AKG stereo speakers.
