Galaxy Fold3 5G Sounds Death Knell For Note Series
August 15, 2021Samsung’s Note Series represents the pinnacle of smartphone technology. Each iteration is packed with the latest hardware, camera sensors and assortment of productivity features. Since 2011 they have defied norms and built a reputation for being the ‘go-to’ gadget for the high-strung business folk.
Their major selling points are the large screen and extremely useful stylus. While on the move, one could comfortably read documents, edit text, adjust mock ups and stream content. They are the modern reincarnation of PDAs (personal digital assistant) like the HP iPAQ, NEC MobilePro and Palm TX. PDAs drifted into relative obscurity due to the capabilities of the modern smartphone.
As the years progressed, Samsung began to gradually increase the screen size of its flagship S-Series phones, which made consumers question the relevance of the Note Series. Like the PDAs that preceded it, The Note’s ‘wow’ factor began to diminish. This why Samsung introduced the Note20 Ultra, arguably the best Note series phone it has ever made.
Samsung Galaxy Note20
It’s sleek look and stylish curves made it one of the most elegant phones of 2020. It also had the best hardware and software of any Android device – yet that wasn’t enough. Then came the Galaxy Z Fold, a foldable device that was a cross between a full-fledged smartphone and a mini tablet. It had a large enough screen to make it useful for reading while on the move.
When folded, it could function as a regular smartphone. This year’s version, the Z Fold3, has improved build quality, more powerful hardware, under screen selfie camera, gorilla glass Victus and stylus support. Consumers can choose to have either the S Pen Fold Edition or the S Pen Pro, which is compatible with all S Pen supported devices.

Introduction of S Pen support for the Galaxy S21 Ultra earlier this year and now for the Galaxy Z Fold3 may signal that it’s the end of the road for the Note Series. Both devices have most of the air command gestures that made the Note Series a vital tool of business people. And like its PDA ancestors, the Galaxy Note isn’t needed anymore.
The Galaxy Z Fold3 5G is now the most ostentatious, exuberant and impressive phone that Samsung makes. It’s a title that used to belong to the Note Series. Priced cheaper than last year’s foldable phone the Galaxy Z Fold3 5G is an appealing phone to own. Now, Samsung hasn’t officially culled the Note Series, but the writing is already on the wall.
