GoPro Hero 10 Black: Faster Chip, 5.3K Resolution And More

September 16, 2021 Off By Naveen Victor

GoPro has released the 10th installment of its highly respected rough-and-tough action camera, the Hero10 Black. Though it may look like a spitting image of the Hero9, underneath the skin its a different machine. Powered by a new high-performance GP2 processor, the new action cam is said to provide “breakthrough” image quality and video frame rates.

The device can capture 5.3K at 60FPS (2x slow motion), 4K video at 120 frames per second (4X slow motion) and 2.7K video at 240 frames per second (8X slow motion). Its processor provides improved video algorithms with local tone mapping (LTM) and 3D noise reduction (3DNR) to capture better detail, textures and contrast in any lighting condition.

GoPro boasts that the new action cam can capture 23MP photos with improved low-light performance and a significantly snappier user interface. In addition to this, it can also enable 19.6 megapixel video stills to be taken from 5K 4:3 video at 30 frames per second and 15.8 megapixel video stills from 5.3K video at 60 frames per second.

The in-camera stabilization has been upgraded as well, thanks to HyperSmooth 4.0. Horizon leveling benefits from an increased tilt limit of 45-degrees in high-performance settings, which is an increase of 27-degrees. As such, the feature is supposed to make shaky and chaotic footage look smooth and steady.

HERO10 Black with the addition of Mods becomes a vlogging rig.
