L’Oréal Group introduced its latest beauty tech innovation to reinvent hair coloration: Colorsonic, a lightweight, handheld device that provides consumers with innovative, mess-free hair color mixing and application at home, and Coloright, a lightweight, handheld innovation combining two innovative technologies. Salon stylists can access an AI-connected hair color system that uses Virtual Try-on to project desired shades, and an algorithm to create a custom hair color with more than 1,500 possible shades.

“Researchers, data scientists, and tech engineers at Colorsonic employed our century-long, deep experience in hair coloration to completely redesign the hair coloring experience, both at home and with Colorsonic, a unique, reusable device. The advanced experience in hair salons enables the client to achieve desirable hair colour results. ”said Barbara Lavernos, Deputy Chief Executive Officer, in Charge of Research, Innovation and Technology.

The Colorsonic combines a precise amount of developer and formula to create a hair color using a custom mixer mechanism that was designed in response to consumer needs and improved over five years. After dispensing the right amount of hair color, the device uses an oscillating nozzle of bristles to apply it to the hair, moving in a zigzag pattern to distribute it evenly. Users can perform the following five steps:

1) Choose a hair color from 40 shades on the Colorsonic website. Ammonia-free hair color kits are conveniently delivered directly to your door.

2) Color cartridges can be loaded into the device for color mixing on-demand. It is critical to preserve the color and keep it fresh for the device to be turned on before the developer and
color are mixed.

3) Apply color uniformly from roots to ends by brushing the device. With an oscillating nozzle, you can cover hair quickly and effectively without leaking, oversaturation, or dripping.
Additionally, there is an attachment for those with long hair (shoulder length or longer).

4) Wait 30 minutes. Then rinse, style, and go.

5) You can use the remainder of the color by removing the cartridge from your device and storing it in a pocket. Colorsonic uses the cartridge system to store unutilized color for touch-ups
and coverage of grays.

L’Oréal’s launch of Colorsonic demonstrates its commitment to delivering exceptional, personalized beauty experiences tied to sustainability. It includes the following features:

1) Colorsonic uses less plastic per application than home box hair colors because it is a reusable device with a recyclable formula cartridge.

2) Reusable Gloves: Existing at-home hair color kits include single-use gloves. Coloursonic gloves can be re-used up to 10 times, are highly protective, and can replace single-use gloves.

3) Reduced Shipping Packaging: Colorsonic devices are shipped in certified recyclable paper mailers.

L’Oréal will also introduce new technology to modernize the salon hair color process
L’Oréal is working on the next evolution of salon hair color products in addition to transforming the at-home haircoloring experience with Colorsonic. Additionally, L’Oréal will launch Coloright at CES 2022.

A salon stylist can use Coloright to create on-demand, customized hair color with an AI-connected system. Powered by a patented algorithm, it puts innovation into the hands of professional colorists and offers more precise coloration.
