There’s a new MacBook Air! And this time, Apple has made it an extremely competent machine. There are whole host of changes that have been made, most notable of which is the new keyboard that uses a scissor type mechanism in place of the troublesome butterfly setup used by older gen machines.

The new Air is powered by a 10th gen, quad-core Intel Core-i7 processor that has a base clock speed of 1.2GHz but can turbo up to 3.8GHz. It’s the first time that a quad-core chip has been used in a MacBook Air, which effectively makes the machine far more useful than before.

Coupled with a more powerful GPU, Apple’s new Air is capable of video editing and running graphically intensive games. The machine is also powerful enough to support a single 6K external monitor by using the available Thunderbolt 3 ports, which can also be used for data transfer and charging purposes.

Apart from this, the computer also has a T2 Security chip for added security for Touch ID, 13-inch Retina display and all-day battery life. There’s also a three-mic array for recording, and advanced stereo speakers that should offer good audio quality.

Apple has also been extremely generous about storage space. The base model MacBook Air comes with a 256GB SSD that can be upgraded to a maximum of 2TB of storage. This is double the previous generation’s 1TB storage limit.

Available in Gold, Silver or Space Grey, the new MacBook Air is available to purchase on Apple’s online store for a price of $999, but students can get it for $899. Visit Cupertino’s website to learn more about this machine as well as its newly launched iPad Pro models.
