New Features For Pixel Phones, Measure Heart Rate With The Camera
March 2, 2021Pixel owners will be happy to know that Google is pushing some interesting updates to their devices. The first of the lot is an improved Recorder app with better sharing functionality. It’s easier than ever to record, transcribe (English only) and search for audio movements that have been saved. But now, users can share links to their recorded files with anyone.
Whoever you choose to share the content with, doesn’t need to have a Pixel phone. They can visit record.google.com to hear recordings, see transcripts and even search through files. All that is needed is for you to provide them with a shareable link, that’s it. You can also backup all your recordings to your Google account and access them from any device.
Besides this, the new update will provide users with new wallpapers that celebrate different cultural moments throughout the year with artwork from various artists from around the world. And to commemorate International Women’s day on March 8, new wallpapers illustrated by Spanish duo Cachetejack will make their way to users’ phones.
If you’ve used Gmail’s smart compose feature then you will like Pixel’s Smart Compose feature. It uses machine learning to help complete your sentences as you type. This will make light work of composing and replying to messages throughout the day. This feature will be made available for select messaging apps on Pixel phones in the U.S and in English only.
When using a Pixel with the Pixel stand, users can expect better bedtime features that include updated bedtime screen and redesigned notifications that will help you fall asleep. This feature is only available for Pixel phones that support wireless charging which include Pixel 3, Pixel 3 XL, Pixel 4, Pixel 4 XL and Pixel 5.
Last bit not least is the addition of a Google Fit feature that lets you measure your heart rate and respiratory rate using just your phone’s camera. Expect this function to roll out to Pixel users by next week.
