OPPO Launches Reno8 Series 5G
July 21, 2022OPPO has launched the latest Reno Series smartphones, which are Reno8 Pro 5G and Reno8 5G. The smartphone comes with OPPO’s first self-developed imaging NPU, MariSilicon X, which aids in the creation of ultra-clear portraits even in difficult lighting conditions.
Flagship Features Portraits
Equipped with a slew of flagship imaging features, Reno8 Pro 5G brings ultra-clear portrait photos and videos to all-new heights with its powerful hardware and software foundations. OPPO’s first self-developed imaging NPU, MariSilicon X, powers the Reno8 Pro 5G’s imaging features while using even less power, providing an unprecedented portrait experience.
With MariSilicon X, you can process dedicated images at 18 trillion operations per second (18 TOPS) on cutting-edge 6nm technology. This high-performance computing platform is capable of lossless 4K AI processing as well as HDR fusion up to 20bit in RAW, while maintaining an 8dB signal-to-noise ratio.
Reno8 Pro 5G’s ultimate imaging experience is enabled by MariSilicon X, which directly processes images in the lossless RAW domain. With IMX709 and IMX766 Sony Flagship Sensors for the front and rear cameras, both Reno8 Pro 5G and Reno8 5G are optimized for lowlight environments.
The Sony IMX709 is an OPPO-customized 32MP RGBW camera sensor. When compared with traditional RGGB sensors, it increases light intake by 60% and reduces noise by 35%. With OPPO’s Quadra Binning algorithm, every selfie looks dynamically bright and sharp, even in low-light conditions. With the IMX709’s embedded DOL-HDR technology, selfies can be captured seamlessly and in high quality, no matter what the situation.
Additionally, the IMX709 on the Reno8 Pro 5G supports AutoFocus on the front camera for the first time, enabling 2x zoom when taking selfies. With a minimum focal distance of 15cm, it is now possible to capture super close-up shots using Reno8 Pro 5G’s front camera, offering unprecedented detail in selfies.
On the rear camera, the Reno8 Series 5G comes with the SONY IMX766 sensor, delivering an enhanced portrait experience with its large 1/1.56-inch sensor size and features like All Pixel Omni-Directional PDAF and DOL-HDR.
Powered by MariSlicon X Imaging NPU and the Dual Sony Flagship Sensors, Reno8 Pro 5G provides a flagship-level portrait camera experience. It is also the first time that 4K video shooting has been brought to a smartphone at this price point range – with 4K Ultra Night Video, users can capture ultra-clear portrait videos at night, while 4K Ultra HDR Video optimizes portrait videos taken in the presence of glaring backlight such as when there is strong sunlight.
Both features can significantly improve image quality and color expression in pictures, avoiding overexposure in bright areas while retaining the maximum amount of detail in dark areas. Aided by the inbuilt AI-enhanced retouching algorithms, human faces appear more natural and vivid in photos and videos shot with the device.
The Design
With a thickness of 7.34 mm and a weight of just 183 g, Reno8 Pro 5G fits perfectly into the hand of the user. Two new stunning color finishes – Glazed Green and Glazed Black – will be available. MediaTek Dimensity 8100-MAX integrated 5G SoC is responsible for Reno8 Pro 5G’s smooth performance. Powered by the industry-standard 5nm processor, the octa-core SoC delivers more power consumption and performance than ever before. The Reno8 Pro 5G comes with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of ROM.
The Reno8 5G is powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 1300 5G-integrated SoC. ARM Cortex-A78 ultra-cores operate up to 3GHz on the octa-core SoC, built on the 6nm process. 256GB of ROM and 8GB of RAM are included in the standard build.
Both Reno8 Pro 5G and Reno8 5G include a suite of charging and battery features designed to deliver a faster, safer, and more reliable experience, OPPO’s battery has a super-fast 80W SUPERVOOCTM can charge the devices’ 4500mAh battery to 50% within 11 minutes, and a 5-minute charge is enough to give 2 hours of mobile gaming. Reno8 Pro 5G comes equipped with an Ultra-Conductive Cooling System while Reno8 5G comes with a Super-Conductive Vapor Chamber (VC) Liquid Cooling System.
ColorOS 12.1
The ColorOS 12.1 features like Air Gestures and Multi-Screen Connect help to increase productivity and make working more convenient and intelligent. Highly customizable Omoji also gives users more creative ways to personalize their phone and operating system.
To ensure user privacy and safety, ColorOS 12.1 comes with features like Anti-peeping for Notifications, Require Password to Power Off, and Recent Tasks Protection, all of which have contributed to Reno8 Pro 5G being awarded authoritative third-party privacy and security certifications,
Availability
The Reno8 5G and Reno8 Pro 5G will be priced at RM 2,399 and RM 3,499 respectively.
Pre-orders of the OPPO Reno8 Series 5G will begin from 21st July 2022 until 29th July 2022.
