PlayStation VR Will Be Coming To PS5
February 24, 2021Sony has announced that the PlayStation VR will be coming to the PS5. It will be offered with a new VR controller that incorporates key features of the DualSense wireless controller and will focus on “ergonomics”. The platform is being built to “match Sony’s visions” for a whole new generation of VR capable games.
This is the company’s official statement:
We’re taking what we’ve learned since launching PS VR on PS4 to develop a next-gen VR system that enhances everything from resolution and field of view to tracking and input. It will connect to PS5 with a single cord to simplify setup and improve ease-of-use, while enabling a high-fidelity visual experience.
It’s a tall order considering how intuitive certain PS5 games can be, especially those that take full advantage of the haptic feedback of the DualSense controllers. Sadly, the VR system is still underdevelopment, so there’s no chance that it will be released this year. Sony says it wants to create a platform that is better than what’s available now – good things come to those who wait….
The current PlayStation VR was launched more than 4 years ago. It offers a somewhat immersive experience for fast paced games. Titles such as Astro Bot: Rescue Mission, Tetris Effect, Blood & Truth, Moss, Beat Saber, and Resident Evil 7 biohazard are available for the platform.
However, VR hasn’t really caught on the way most people expected. But that might change once Sony irons out the creases for the PS5’s version. Stay tuned and we will let you know more as soon as we find out.
