E ink tablets haven’t managed to catch on, the way regular tablets have. The lack of a colour display is a major limiting factor for such tablets. Most people do not consider them as useful as conventional devices, relegating them to being nothing more than uneventful e-readers.

Well that might change with the introduction of the reMarkable 2. It’s the follow-up model to the original and is aimed at note takers and people who spend significant amount of time, reading. The device offers both touch and pen input support, giving it added versatility in boardrooms.

At just 0.9-inches thick, the svelte looking Remarkable 2 is said to be the thinnest tablet in the world, provides two weeks of battery life and offers a paper-like experience. In addition tot this, Its stylus features an eraser on its top to help simplify corrections.

Users can use the reMarkable 2 to jot down handwritten notes, read books and PDFs as well as review documents and make amendments where necessary. As an added bonus, the Remarkable 2 is able to convert handwriting into text.

It is even capable of syncing its content with other device platforms, enabling users to access said data on just about any device. Also, it supports cursive and block letters of 33 different languages.

The roll out of the reMarkable 2.0 software, improves the experience further for both generations of the tablet. There’s a new user interface, new home screen design, improved document toolbar, touch gestures, long-press to select and better sharing options.

The reMarkable 2 is available for pre-order at $399 with an expected shipping date tabled for July. And for the aforementioned price, the company is including the stylus/Marker and Folio for free. Check out the company’s website for more information.
