Samsung Announces 870 EVO SSD

Samsung has released its new 870 EVO SSD. It is supposed to offer a “compelling mix of performance, reliability and compatibility” for users across the board. It features the latest V-NAND and controller that help it reach a maximum SATA sequential read and write speeds of 560 and 530MB/s, respectively.

Through the use of its SLC buffer, the drive’s TurboWrite technology helps it maintain its peak levels. The drive also has nearly 38% improvement in random read speeds compared to its predecessor, the 860.

Built in house, the new 870 EVO touts 30%as well as a class-leading terabytes written (TBW) rating of 2,400TB,4 or a 5-year limited warranty, for its 4TB model improvement in sustained performance over the 860 EVO, power saving sleep mode.
