Samsung Has A New A-Series Event Planned for March 17th

It’s official, Samsung will be releasing its new crop of mid-range smartphones on March 17th. It has become somewhat of an annual tradition to see new A5x and A7x phones grace the stage in Q1 of each year. Last year’s A52 and A72 were a welcomed improvement over their predecessors, but the absence of wireless charging did dent our enthusiasm somewhat.

Samsung is making bold claims as a means to build necessary hype for the launch of the new phones. It says that it’s “taking the impactful Galaxy innovations for the A series even further”. Consumers should expect to receive a “fully-loaded experience that people want from a smartphone”.

The launch event will be streamed live on Samsung’s YouTube channel starting at 10am EDT. More information regarding the products will be made readily available on Samsungmobilepress.com once the devices are officially unveiled.

Unlike the Galaxy S line of phones, The A series sees incremental upgrades each year. Though the camera hardware lags behind that of flagships by a significant margin, the displays are inching closer, made evident by the A52s with its 120Hz, 6.5-inch super AMOLED display. The review is available here.

The first quarter of each year is usually Samsung’s busiest as it fires a salvo of new devices at the competition, in the interest of capturing the interest of consumers who are eager for an upgrade. In January we saw the launch of the S21 FE, which is a Fan Edition phone based on last year’s S21 Series. Then, in the middle of last month, we were graced by the presence of the latest S22 Series.

Presumably, the upcoming launch event will play host to the reveal of the A53 and A73 smartphones. We aren’t expecting revolutionary changes, but it would be nice to see these phones get better battery life and support for wireless charging. Here’s to wishful thinking!
