Samsung launches A71 5G and A51 5G
April 11, 2020Samsung has been on a role these past few years, and it has proven that 2020 is no exception. This time, the Korean manufacturer has decided to shoehorn a 5G chip into its mid-range devices. The new A71 5G and A51 5G are slightly refreshed versions of their predecessors.
Nothing much has changed with the exception of the A51 5G’s battery being bumped up to 4,500mAh and the fact that you can get this smartphone with either 6GB or 8GB RAM. Take a look at the breakdown below to identify the differences between the two phones:
Unlike their predecessors, both phones come with new glossy finished colour options. The A71 5G comes in Prism Cube Black, Prism Cube Sliver and Prism Cube Blue while the A51 5G comes in Prism Cube Black, Prism Cube White and Prism Cube Pink.
Samsung says that these phones will be offered with its full ecosystem of apps and services that include Bixby (Vision, Lens Mode, Routines), Samsung Pay and Samsung Health. That said, this minor upgrade could serve as a hint to Samsung’s upcoming plans.
The company may be trying to push 5G chips into all upcoming phones, but why the rush? One can’t help but wonder what the logic is here. So far, only a handful of countries have begun rolling out 5G connectivity to consumers. Most others still lack the proper infrastructure to implement this high-speed tech at a national level.
Whatever the case maybe, to us consumers this is good news. When our local carriers do eventually offer 5G connectivity, there would be no need for us to rush out and buy new 5G phones. Samsung is basically future proofing our next phones – before we even get them.
