Samsung Pay Can Store COVID-19 Vaccine Card In US

Samsung Pay allows for contactless payment via your smartphone. Basically, it’s a mobile payment and digital wallet service that lets users store their payment cards within the app. They can then be used for in-person, in-app or online payments. This can prove to be extremely useful thse days due to how easily the virus spreads through person-to-person contact.

Now the service can be used to store COVID-19 a digital vaccination status. This follows the announcement from the Commons Project Foundation on the availability of SMART Health Cards on the platform. It paves the way for US consumers to download a digital version of their vaccine record received from pharmacies or other healthcare providers then add them to Samsung Pay.

“Samsung Pay simplifies transactions for millions of mobile device users. As more and more consumers use their Samsung devices as a digital wallet it is a natural extension to make Covid-19 vaccination records more easily accessible,” said Rob White, Sr. Director of Product for Samsung Pay, Samsung Electronics America.

To do this, You’ll need to download the CommonHealth app from the Google Play Store on your Samsung Galaxy smartphone. Once your health information is verified within the app, it lets you download your vaccination record and add it to Samsung Pay.

This is the step-by-step process:

Step One: Download the CommonHealth app from the Google Play Store and follow instructions to access your Covid-19 vaccine credential.

Step Two: Once you have access to your Covid-19 vaccine credential within the CommonHealth app, click the “Add to Samsung Pay” link.

Step Three: Open Samsung Pay and click “Covid-19 Vaccine Pass” from the homepage.

Once your vaccine card has been successfully integrated into the Samsung Pay app, it can be securely shared as a QR code with trusted parties to gain access to a school, workplace, while traveling, or with a healthcare provider.
