Samsung Poised To Release Galaxy A42 5G

Just when we thought Samsung didn’t have any more surprises up its sleeve, the company seems to have proved us wrong. Hot on the heels of its S20 FE launch, the Korean smartphone maker is gearing up to release a new smartphone, called the A42.

Like the S20 FE that precedes it, the A42 seems to combine the new and old, into one, elegant package that is bound to entice would-be smartphone bargain hunters. The phone has a 6.6-inch, 1080 x 2400 resolution teardrop display, which seems a little dated considering that we are already at the tailend of 2020.

The phone’s rear gets an interesting two tone design, where the contrasting shade features a cascading color gradient. It’s a unique look that allows the A42 to stand out, in a sea of ‘vanilla’ solid colored phones. And instead of the usual oblong rectangular camera arrangement, this phone gets a compact square with the sensors arranged in an X pattern.

Though nothing spectacular, the 48MP main, 8MP Ultra Wide, 5MP depth sensor and 5MP Macro should be good enough for regular photo taking. This is a similar setup seen in other phones in Samsung’s A-series line up.

Here’s what to expect of the phone’s hardware configuration:

  • Processor: Octa-Core Dual2.2GHz + Hexa 1.8GHz
  • Memory: 4/6/8 RAM
  • 128GB Internal Storage
  • Battery: 5000mAh

It may not be flagship level stuff, but the A42 will have 5G connectivity, which should offer blisteringly quite online performance. This is inline with Samsung’s current trend of shoehorning the new standard into as many mid-range devices as possible. The A51 and A71 are prime examples of this.

The company hasn’t revealed any specifics in regard to pricing and probable release dates. But we have an inkling that its launch is imminent. And as such, we wait with baited breath for the new and peculiar Samsung Galaxy A42…
