Samsung has maintained 6th position in Interbrand’s “Best Global Brands 2019” list with a value of $61.1 billion, which is an increase of 2% compared with last year. A division of Omnicom, Interbrand is a marketing consultancy company that specializes in brands and branding management.

According to them, several factors contributed to Samsung’s solid performance this year, which include perfectly positioned consumer products such as the BESPOKE refrigerator, Sero TV and the revolutionary Galaxy Fold smartphone. The fold is Samsung’s first smartphone with a foldable display.

Several innovations in 5G, AI, IoT (Internet of Things) and the automotive sector have aided the electronics giant’s current dominance in brand value. Samsung’s willingness to listen to the needs and wants of its customers, has also helped boost consumer confidence in the brand. Unlike previous standards, 5G enables exceptionally high data transfer rates, which will be beneficial to many sectors.

In an addition to this, the company still holds the number one spot in the semiconductor memory market,
a position that it wont be unseated from, any time soon. Due to a substantial investment in this sector, Samsung has the ability to mass produce the industry’s first 12-gigabit (Gb) LPDDR5 mobile DRAM and its sixth-generation V-NAND, which features the 100+ layer single-stack design.

The launch of several strong products this year, most notable of which being the Galaxy Fold, has boosted consumer perception of the brand and its willingness to push the boundaries of what’s possible. Though the product remains unproven, Samsung displays are still considered the industry benchmark.

YH Lee, CMO of Samsung Electronics, says that we can expect more of such innovation from them in the near future. Based on the current trend, we expect to see more foldable displays from the electronics giant in the next few years.
