Samsung Unveils A13 & A23 Smartphones With Improved Features

Samsung has released two of its most affordable smartphones for 2022, the Galaxy A13 and A23. These follow up models to last year’s budget line feature minute improvements in various departments that make them an incremental upgrade over their predecessors.

Both phones feature teardrop displays, which at this point, seem a little long in the tooth. As a consolation, it’s a substantially large 6.6-inch TFT, 1080P panel. Instead of the commonplace under screen fingerprint sensor, both A13 and A23 make do with a side-button mounted sensor.

Depending on the market you’re in, the A13 has been made available to purchase with 3/4/6GB RAM options while the A23 gets 4/6/8GB RAM ones. From the front, there’s little evidence to differentiate these two phones. However, it’s a different story for the rear. The A23 employs the same protruding camera array popularized by the A52.

The A13’s camera array is integrated into the rear shell in the same way as that of the S22 Ultra. That said, both phones are a world apart because the former is constructed from plastic and features more modest hardware. For cameras, both the A13 and A23 get a 5MP ultra-wide, 50MP Main and 2MP depth sensor.

Samsung has equipped both phones with 5,000mAh batteries, however breaking with convention, the company has also given them support for 25W fast charging. This means that this year’s budget devices also benefit from a higher charging rate than any of their predecessors.

We’ll let you know more about them once we’re able to run them to the test.
