Since COVID-19 reared its ugly head, we’ve had to put our travel plans on hold indefinitely. But Samsung isn’t deterred by this problem, especially when it comes to visiting its Innovation museum. It happens to be the largest electronics industry in Korea, with exhibits that highlight inventions and equipment that have paved the way for modern technology.

Samsung has been steadily releasing content since last September focusing on the history of the electronics industry, science and technology from the 18th to 21st centuries. This includes the history of Samsung and the roadmaps it followed to become the juggernaut it is today.

The company’s new batch of animated videos, the first of which was released on July 29th focuses on inventions from the 19th and 20th centuries. The first episode titled “Samuel Morse and the Network” explores the humble beginnings of long-distance communications.

Our high-speed internet connections and crystal clear call reception owe their existence to the Morse Code. It is the most primitive mode of communication between two people. Through the use of an electrical signal, his system created dots and dashes on a piece of vinyl that could then be successfully interpreted to form words and sentences on the other end of the line.

Take a look at the following video for the animated explanation:

Morse Code predates the telephone but is still in use today, especially in situations where modern telecommunications systems are inoperable. Samsung’s new series of videos aims to enlighten consumers and history buffs on the early inventions that have helped us evolve and improve our quality of life.

Expect to see four subsequent videos in this current series. They will be released in succession and called : ‘John Baird and the TV’, ‘Alexander Graham Bell and the Telephone’, ‘James Harrison and the Refrigerator’ and ‘William Shockley and the Semiconductor’.
