Samsung’s new One UI 3.1.1 for Galaxy Z Series Users
September 1, 2021The Galaxy Z Fold3 5G and the Galaxy Z Flip3 5G will be receiving One UI 3.1.1 soon. It’s supposed to offer the most intuitive user interface for foldables. In order to make the devices as easy to use as possible, the new UI is optimized for the devices’ large screens and their unique design features.
In addition to the Galaxy Z Fold2 5G, Galaxy Z Flip 5G, and Galaxy Z Flip, One UI 3.1.1 will also become available other devices on August 31. The update will also be coming to Samsung’s Galaxy Fold after a week. Here’s more information about One UI 3.1.1 and what it will do for mobile users:
Drag & Split
Compare prices online when you shop? You don’t have to switch constantly between windows because Drag & Split helps you open up new tabs in a snap. It is possible to drag the link you want to view to the edge of the screen in order to open it in a new window at the same time.
Many of your favorite apps are supported by Drag & Split, such as Samsung Internet, Samsung Notes, My Files, Messages, Microsoft Office, OneNote, and OneDrive.
Click on the link you would like to open > Drag it to wherever you want it on your screen to open a new window.
Switch between multi-active windows and natural windows
You can use up to three apps simultaneously on your screen in Multi-Active Window, all arranged in the layout of your choice. One UI 3.1.1 also allows you to customize the height and width of the app windows.
Go to Settings > Click Advanced Features > Go to Labs > Click Multi Window for all apps to change the layout of your apps to your preference.
Natural Window Switching makes transitions between apps more responsive and intuitive when you change the layout to your preference. You can easily drag and drop an app to its new location by pressing down on the top handle in One UI 3.1.1.
Rotate and zoom all apps
A foldable smartphone offers unique advantages due to its unique form factor, such as delivering a detailed experience to users more regardless of the orientation in which they view an app. As Samsung is well aware that switching between portrait and landscape modes can be frustrating, they have fine-tuned the latest One UI update to make switching between the two modes as smooth as possible.
As a result of the Rotate All Apps feature, your apps will automatically adjust to the corresponding aspect ratio, regardless of whether they are portrait or landscape. It is possible to rotate vertically fixed apps 90 degrees when the setting is toggled on in ‘Labs.’
Steps to follow: Go to Settings > Click Advanced Features > Go to Labs > Click on Auto rotate apps > Select one of two options: Keep app’s orientation or Match phone’s orientation.
Change Aspect Ratio for Apps
Customize the aspect ratio of your Infinity Flex Display to get the most out of your foldable smartphone. Consider browsing through your friends’ latest social media posts, but finding that the size of the app is fixed, so that you cannot view them in full screen.
The new version of One UI 3.1.1 allows you to alter the size of the app so you can experience their photos and videos in full. Enable the extensive foldable display feature in ‘Labs’ to get the most out of Samsung’s expansive display. Step-by-step guide: Go to Labs > click on Customized App Aspect Ratios > click on the apps you want to customize > choose between four options: full screen, 16:9, 4:3, and App default.
Split view of an app
If you use App Split View with Messages, the message list will appear on the left of the screen and the selected conversation will appear on the right, offering you a chance to see more of what you are talking about at a glance. When the full screen mode button is clicked at the top of the conversation, the full screen will be shown.
If your app does not come with built-in support for Split View, you can enable it by turning it on in ‘Labs’. When you turn on this feature in a mobile shopping app, for instance, you can see both the product details and the product list.
Steps to follow: Click on the App split view > Select the apps for the split view
Flex Mode Panel
Samsung’s signature foldable feature, Flex mode, has just gotten even better with the One UI 3.1.1 update.
You can now enable Flex mode in “Labs” for apps that do not normally support it. As you wind down after a long day, the Flex mode panel allows you to control your media with ease.
Steps: Go to the Labs page > Select the “Multi window for all apps” option > Click on the Flex mode panel > Select apps to display in the Flex mode panel.
Pin favorites to the taskbar
Whenever you’re on the move, Samsung understands that it’s best to ease into tasks with the fewest possible clicks and taps.
Providing a way for you to switch seamlessly between apps without going back to the home screen or scrolling through the Recent tab, Taskbar is designed to make your work life more efficient. You can instantaneously access your favorite apps with the Taskbar, which is located sideways on the Main Screen, where Edge Panel is located. To make your workflow more efficient, enable the Labs feature.
Follow these steps: Go to Labs > Select “on” next to Pin your favorite apps > Swipe left to open up the tray > Tap the grid icon to see all of your apps and edit > Tap Pin and the Taskbar will be pinned to the side of the screen.
Mirroring of the Cover Screen
The latest version of One UI is 3.1.1. The transition between the Cover Screen and Main Screen is even smoother and more intuitive. Mirroring the Cover Screen gives you the exact same setup and layout of the home screen on both the Cover Screen and Main Screen.
Follow these steps: Go to Settings > Select the Home screen > Select Cover Screen mirroring
