Samsung’s recent introduction of the One UI 3.0, its graphical user interface for smartphones, brings with it a number of new features that aid multitasking on foldable devices. The company says that users of the Galaxy Z Fold2 should be able to get things done more efficiently now that they have the latest update. Besides simplifying the interactions on the device, the UX has been tweaked too.

Improved Multitasking
Users of the foldable phablet can now return to three previously opened Multi-Active Windows on the Main Screen via the Recent tab. Users can also place two multi-active windows from the main screen to the cover screen via the Recent tab.

The update also allows users to launch Multi-Active Window directly from notifications in the Quick Panel. Just long press, drag and drop the relevant notification to open apps with Multi-Active Window.

Simplified Interactions
Now, there’s a better way to turn off the screen. Instead of reaching for the power button, the One UI 3.1 update allows users to enable a setting called ‘Palm touch to turn off screen’ in settings. Both the cover and main screen can be turned off with the touch of the palm or a double tap.

When shooting in flex mode, the controls can be adjusted for ease of use, and Samsung has also added a Delete and Share button to the preview window. As great as these new updates are, we hope that more affordable foldable devices make their way into the market this year.
