Samsung’s Sustainability Vision for Mobile Devices

Galaxy products manufactured by Samsung are planned to be disposed of in a resource-conserving manner by 2025 to reduce their environmental footprint.
“We believe that everyone can contribute to protecting the planet for generations to come by providing innovative solutions,” according to TM Roh, President and Head of Mobile Communications Business at Samsung Electronics. “Samsung understands the magnitude of its total ecosystem, and our efforts must match it, based on the size, influence and scope of Samsung’s Galaxy devices globally.”
Toward a more sustainable environment by 2025
It aims to achieve its initial goals by 2025, expanding its commitments to address new challenges beyond that time. Samsung believes sustainable practices should be integrated throughout the manufacturing process to minimize environmental impact and create a better future for communities and the next generation.
By 2025, all new mobile products will rely on recycled material
As part of its commitment to driving a circular economy, Samsung is investing in new, eco-friendly materials for its products. The company aims to use recycled material across all of its mobile products by 2025, using different recycled materials that are strong, attractive, and durable.
Plastics from mobile packaging will be eliminated by 2025. Samsung intends to eliminate single-use plastic from device packaging by 2025 by reducing, removing, and replacing the unnecessary resources and materials used in traditional device packaging and incorporating environmentally sustainable practices.
The standby power consumption of all smartphone chargers should be below 0.005W by 2025 Throughout its product range, Samsung has focused on energy-saving technology that increases energy efficiency and reduces power consumption. Samsung plans to reduce standby power consumption to below 0.005W by 2025 to achieve zero power consumption.
Achieve zero waste to landfill by 2025 In addition to minimizing the amount of waste generated at its mobile manufacturing sites by 2025, Samsung is committed to reducing e-waste through initiatives like Galaxy Upcycling, Certified Re-Newed, and Trade-In programs.
