Samsung’s Tab S7 FE Could Be The Tablet You Need

Samsung’s Galaxy S7 FE could prove to be a game changer for Android tablets. It inherits the basic recipe that made the Tab S7+ a winner but forgoes the pricey flagship chipset for a more modest setup. It has the same internal hardware as the A52 5G but coupled with either 4GB or 6GB RAM.

But most importantly, it has a 12.4-inch, TFT display with a resolution of 2560×1600. That means that it can produce sharp images with a decent amount of clarity and contrast. Granted, it is nowhere near as impressive as the Tab S7+ with its AMOLED unit, but Samsung has a proven track record when it comes to making regular screens look good. The Tab S6 Lite is a testament to this notion.

The capacious screen will make the Tab S7 FE incredibly practical to jot down notes, sketch, watch movies and read documents. In addition to this, it can also function like a proper PC with the help of the DeX interface. Granted, the Android operating system needs to be further refined for DeX to be used to its fullest potential, but at the present time, it has enough in it to be useful.

Fact that most tasks can be accomplished with a stroke of the S Pen or a flick of a finger, greatly improves productivity. I have successfully ditched my laptop for an Android tablet because of the DeX interface. It makes light work of shuffling between apps and multi tasking between various work related tasks.

The added advantage of using a tablet in lieu of a conventional laptop is the prospect of never having to worry about cooling issues or periodically having to turn it off. It is at your beck and call the entire day. But prior to the launch of the Tab S7 FE, tablets that were powerful enough to replace a PC, were too expensive for the average Joe.

But the Tab S7 FE may change that. Though it is far from a budget tablet, it’s more “modest” internals will make it far more affordable. It’s the same approach that made the S20 FE smartphone an instant hint among budget minded consumers. It came with powerful hardware, but with the help of some corner cutting, was priced significantly lower than the flagship it was based on.

This is why the Tab S7 FE could prove to be the Android tablet that can take the fight to Apple. It may also serve as a compelling reason for Google to make necessary tweaks to the underlying Android OS to play nicely with tablets. If so, Android tablets could once again become relevant to average consumers.
