Simple Tips For A Better Battery Lifespan

It isn’t necessary to wait until your battery’s depleted before rushing to charge your phone, or leave it plugged in overnight to get a full charge. Here are some tips that can help maintain your battery’s health and extend its lifespan. This will help increase usability and prolong its useable service life.

Step 1 – How to prevent battery depletion
* In order to maintain a good battery lifespan, use an original Charger. If you happen to use unapproved chargers or cables, this might slow down the charging speed and can cause irreversible damage to the battery.

* Make sure that the charge level doesn’t dip below 20% at any point in time. Not heeding to this practice will affect overall battery health and its ability to retain its original charge levels.

* Once your battery is fully charged, unplug your phone. Continuing to charge the battery once its full is detrimental to its overall health. Mind, this will only happen if a phone is repeatedly left to charge for extended periods.

* To clean the charging port, use a gentle brush. It is possible for lint or dust to cause charging problems and prevent a proper connection during charging.

Step 2 – Environment
Battery that can be used in both indoor and outdoor environments. However, extreme temperatures and environments can still affect the battery’s capacity and performance.

Here are some extra precautions you should take while using the device in extreme conditions;
* During the summertime, keep the battery away from extreme temperatures, like those found near heaters or inside parked cars, as such environments may cause the battery to overheat. If possible, charge the battery in a cooler place.

* In cold weather like a car left outside during winter, Li-ion batteries may suffer performance issues or possibly reduce their lifespan.

What’s the best place to charge the device?
Charge at room temperature – Charging at room temperature will ensure fast, stable charging.

* Avoid letting your device sit unused for long periods of time – Maintain your device in an appropriate temperature and condition, and recharge unused ones every 3 to 6 months to prevent battery degradation.

Step 3 – Charge the battery from zero to 50% in 30 minutes
Some phones are equipped with fast charging technology. For this to work, these phones have to be connected to compatible charging cables and power bricks. If a phone doesn’t support said tech, charging speed will not increase even if it’s connected to a fast charging power brick.

Use the following steps to check for fast charging availability on Samsung Galaxy devices:

1. Go to ‘Battery and device care’ menu in ‘Settings’, then choose the ‘Battery’ tab.
2. Tap ‘More battery settings”.
3. Select one of the charging modes like ‘Fast charging’ or ‘Super-fast charging’, based on the type or authorized fast charger you have.

Other Android smartphones may employ a slightly different method to get to the aforementioned menu, but it won’t be that far off either.
