Sony’s new WI-1000XM2 earphones is a marked improvement over its predecessors. Like the rest of 1000X family, it features a neckband design but the earbuds itself, are angled slightly for a better fit. The entire thing only weighs 58g, which should make it convenient to carry around.

The outer casing of the earbuds are magnetic, allowing them to stay attached when stored or carried in the included carrying case. Sony boasts that their newly-developed HD noise cancelling processor, the QN1, gives these earphones an improved noise suppression level.

It is so effective that it is able cancel out aircraft cabin ambient noises effectively thanks to the Atmospheric Pressure Optimizing function. Sound quality is said to be just as impressive. The WI-1000XM2 is fitted with a HD Hybrid Driver System that includes a 9mm dynamic driver and Balanced Armature driver.

The built-in Digital Sound Enhancement Engine HX (DSEE HX™) can upscale compressed music files such as MP3s. This enhances the richness and clarity of the audio coming though, bringing it closer to actual high-resolution audio levels.

Adaptive sound control, allows listeners to change the earphones sound settings to suit their needs. There’s also support for the Google Voice Assistant and Amazon’s Alexa. It’s a fully equipped device, which is essential for those who are constantly on the move.

Sony says that these earphones offer 10 hours battery on a single charge. And thanks to quick charging, can offer 80 minutes of play time after being charged for just 10 minutes.

The Sony WI-1000XM2 is available for purchase now . For those who are in Malaysia, the WI-1000XM2 retails for RM1,299 which is about USD$320.
