Samsung’s Galaxy SmartTag+ is scheduled for launch on April 16. The device is equipped with both Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) technology and Ultra-Wideband (UWB) technology to enable faster and more accurate location tracking. Through the use of augmented reality, you can use your smartphone’s camera to visualize where your missing item is located.

Locate Lost Items
The Galaxy SmartTag+ has been added into the Galaxy SmartTag line as a more powerful and accurate tag, which can be attached to everyday objects, such as backpacks and keys, for enhanced tracking and tracking with Samsung’s SmartThings Find service.

Locate with the AR Finder View
Due to its BLE and UWB capabilities, it can now be used to find your lost item using AR technology. The AR Finder guide you via an easy-to-learn interface on your UWB-equipped smartphone, such as Samsung Galaxy S21+ and S21 Ultra, which indicates how close you are to the Galaxy SmartTag+ and guides you toward it.

When you get closer to where your tag is, you can choose to have it produce a loud ring so you’ll be able to find it even if it’s hidden under the sofa. This makes light work of finding misplaced objects instead of having to turn the entire house “upside down”.

“A game-changer, UWB will allow us to lock onto an object’s position with much greater precision, stated KJ Kim, EVP at Samsung Electronics and Head of Mobile R&D Office of Mobile Communications Business. “In order to effectively utilize UWB across the Galaxy ecosystem, we’re looking at exploring new uses for this technology aimed at making everyday life easier and more convenient for our customers”.

Pinpoint Its Location Regardless of Its Distance
Galaxy SmartTag+ can also utilize SmartThings Find’s detection software, allowing you to locate tagged items, even if they’re located much further than where you are. As the tags use Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) and power the Galaxy device network, they are capable of identifying a phone that is within range.

Galaxy smartphone and tablet SmartThings Find users can use their device to help others locate lost tags through the SmartThings app. Whenever you report your tag as missing using SmartThings Find, any nearby Galaxy device that has chosen to ‘opt in’ will send a notification to SmartThings to help locate your tag.
