URC’s One Remote To Rule Them All

Universal TV remotes are gaining in popularity, once more. The advent of smart home devices to help make life more convenient, have inadvertently created another problem. Controlling them requires the use of multiple apps or interfaces. This can be a problem. That’s where universal remotes like that from URC, come in handy.

These devices aren’t new. In fact, they have been around since the early 1990s. But with the advancement of processors, they have evolved further and can now take charge of many more devices. The MX-790 is one such remote. It’s part of URC’s Complete control line of products.

It’s a programmable, handheld remote that can directly control every (infrared) IR device in your home, which include TV, A/V components, cable, satellite boxes and many more. At the top is a 2-inch color LCD screen that can display up to 48 paired devices. When used in combination with complete control base stations, its range is extended several fold.

This allows the MX-790 to send information to devices that are behind walls, cabinet doors or even from outside. These base stations include ones like the MRF-350 and MRF-260. They negate the need to point the remote directly at a device you want to control. In fact, you don’t even have to be in the same room.

These are some of its advantages:
Displays up to six buttons per screen
Delivers single-room, one-way control of IR devices
Operates on standard AA alkaline batteries
MX-790i features 433 MHz frequency for international and highly-populated markets

“URC continues to innovate around our legendary Complete Control line to offer dealers and end-users with a variety of control choices,” said Mr. Chang K. Park, URC CEO. “Our goal is to deliver residential and commercial products that elevate expectations for premium performance design and integration.”

The company will be rolling out a live software update for the Complete Control line that will include additional features like password protection. URC says that in doing so, it’s providing greater security and support to dealers and end-users alike. Take a look at the company website for more on this and their devices.
