Video Creators and Vloggers Meet The Sony ZV-E10

A new Alpha series camera, the ZV-E10, is being rolled out by Sony with advanced camera technology built from the ground up. Made specifically for budding photographers and vloggers, the new camera combines Sony’s imaging capabilities and a custom feature set tailored to video creators.

A 24.2-megapixel (approx. effective) APS-C Exmor™ CMOS sensor and a BIONZ X engine power the ZV-E10, which produces images with outstanding sensitivity along with detailed texture representation and beautiful natural bokeh.

A few of the features from the ZV-1 digital camera are also available on the ZV-E10, including “Background Defocus” that allows you to smoothly switch between blurry (bokeh) and sharp backgrounds, in addition to “Product Showcase Setting mode, which automatically changes the subject’s focus from the face to an object displayed.

This video camera is built around a video-first design and is surprisingly light (approx. 12 oz. / 343 giii) and includes unique features such as the side openable LCD screen that can be used to connect external microphones. By doing so, setup is simplified while users can still see the screen from both angles and in selfie mode.

In addition to the touchscreen, the ZV-E10 includes several other features specifically designed to make vlogging simpler. Four modes are selected with a single touch using the button at the top of the camera.

Besides capturing high-resolution 4K (QFHD: 3840 x 2160) video, this new camera can also record slow-motion video with high picture quality (FHD 120p)iv. A mode called Active Mode can be used for electronic image stabilization and provides steady video recording while walking and shooting handheld.

Creative Versatility
With interchangeable lenses, you can create more creative images. The ZV-E10 gives the user the freedom to use the right lens for the scene they want to capture for their creative expression. In Sony’s E-mount lens lineup, there is a wide selection of compatible lenses that can be selected according to the user’s creative vision.

Advanced Autofocus
Using Sony’s autofocus technology allows users to focus on composition while letting the camera deal with the task of focusing. Using Fast Hybrid AF and Real-time Eye AF for video, the ZV-E10 provides fast and precise autofocus, even when the camera is recording on-the-go and in adverse conditions. As part of the camera’s AF settings, AF Transition Speed and AF Subject Shift Sensitivity can be customized to suit the user’s preference.

High Quality Audio
The Sony ZV-E10, thanks to its internal Directional 3-Capsule Mic, captures crystal-clear audio with accurate articulations, and the factory-installed wind screen significantly reduces wind noise. The ZV-E10 offers an enhanced audio feature set, including a digital audio interface via Multi Interface (MI) Shoe and a mic jack to connect an external microphone, among others.

Putting the Subject First
It will adjust the exposure automatically when shooting in different lighting conditions, using an original Face Priority AE (auto exposure) algorithm capable of rapid AE transitions and so the subject is not overexposed or underexposed.

Cameras use this feature to detect the subject’s face and adjust the exposure to maintain a bright image even during self-portraits in scenes with extreme lighting changes, or when subjects turn away from the camera for a moment. Aside from that, the camera boasts the same advanced color science from the popular ZV-1 in order to optimize skin tones for any subject both in stills and videos.

Designed for Video Creators
With its easy-grip body and large MOVIE button conveniently located on top of the camera, the new ZV-E10 makes for a comfortable camera to use. When used with the wireless remote commander included in the optional Shooting Grip on the GP-VPT2BT (GP-VPT2BT, sold separately), one-handed shooting is facilitated by easy zoom, record and customizable buttons.

Likewise, on the front face of the body is a recording lamp (tally light) that gives instant feedback on the status of recording. On the LCD screen, a red frame indicates that recording is occurring when behind the camera. This lets the user quickly and easily know if the camera is recording.

This automatic zoom lens has both optical zoom and Clear Image zoom capabilities, which is a unique feature of the ZV-E10. Zooming in with Clear Image zoom prevents video resolution loss, so full 4K video is maintained. In addition, zoom speed can be adjusted according to eight different settings for more creative freedom.

The ZV-E10 offers long battery life with enough capacity to record for an extended period of time or keep up with 440 images on a full charge, so the user won’t have to worry about running out of battery power. Using AC power supplies like the optional AC-PW20AM can assure uninterrupted recording while shooting indoors, as it supplies power without consuming battery power.

Livestreaming
You can connect the ZV-E10 to a PC or smartphone and use it as a webcam or live streaming camera for increased mobility while streaming without the installation of any software. Livestreaming or video chatting with the ZV-E10 offers the best image and audio quality, as well as features such as Face Priority AE and Soft Skin Effect.

Easy File Data and Transfers
Wi-Fi connectivity allows users to transfer selected images and videos to a mobile device using the Sony Imaging Edge Mobile app. Furthermore, RAW images can be transferred using this method.
