Xiaomi Reveals 200W Charging, Achieves 100% in 8 Minutes
May 31, 2021Xiaomi is taking the fast charging game to a whole new level. In a recent Twitter post, the company boasted about its 200W charging technology. It used a Custom Mi 11 Pro to showcase the feasibility of this capability. In a mere 44 seconds, the phone was able to gain a 10% charge, and in just 3 minutes, that goes up to 50%. In just 8 minutes, you should receive a full charge.
The same tech can be used for wireless charging but with a power limit of 120W. Using the same phone, Xiaomi was able to charge it to 10 % in 1 minute, 50% in 7 minutes and 100% in just 15 minutes. It’s an incredible feat by anyone’s standards. This groundbreaking capability could put an end to the need to keep your charger nearby.

Granted, this feat was acheived using a custom Mi 11 Pro with a 4000mAh battery, but this technology’s exsistance alone, is cause for celebration. Xiaomi is one of the better known brands for promiting “super” fast charging technology. These blisteringly fast charging speeds offer users unbeliveble level of convenience.

That said, fast charging your phone does take a toll on battery health. Several studies indicate that battery health can deteriorate more quickly with extremely fast charging technology. But there are ways of gettting around this, and Xiaomi may have one already.
