3 New Zoom Features To Boot Out Troublemakers

WFH life has made us dependent on video conferencing tools to conduct meetings and brainstorming sessions. Apps like Zoom have taken the world by storm, cementing their presence in every organization that has been hit by lockdowns or stay at home orders. But managing an online meeting can be extremely taxing, especially due to certain troublemakers.

That is why Zoom has come out with 3 new features that aim to give moderators and team leaders the ability to take charge of meetings and eject unruly participants. The first is the “Suspend Participant Activities” which gives hosts and co-hosts the ability to pause a meeting and address misbehaving participants.

Once enabled, all video, audio, in-meeting chat, annotation, screen sharing and recording will stop and Breakout Rooms will end. The meeting hosts will be asked if they’d like to report a user, share details and optionally include a screenshot. Next, they can click submit and the reported user will be removed from the meeting and Zoom’s Trust & Safety team will be notified.

The second feature is “Report by Participants”. This allows meeting participants to report disruptive users directly from the Zoom client by clicking the top-left Security badge. Hosts and co-hosts can already do this by selecting the Security Icon. It’s just another way of maintaining order during an important meeting.

“At-Risk Meeting Notifier” is a feature that scans public social media posts and websites for your Zoom Meeting links that may have been shared, publicly. When these tools detects a a meeting that looks to be at high risk of being disrupted, Zoom alerts the account owner via email. It will also provide advice on the next steps that should be taken.
