As such, here are the 5 reasons why it’s the best superphone to consider:
It has the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen2
Regardless of where you buy the phone, every S23 Ultra comes with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset. There’s no longer an Exynos option for Asian markets and because of this, every phone will have the same performance.
That said, the Snapdragon 8 Gen2 in the S23 Ultra is a little more unique because it’s CPU and GPU have been tweaked a little more compared to the regular chipset found on other phones. This is why it’s branded as the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 For Galaxy.
Samsung says that compared to the S22 Ultra, the new phone’s CPU is 30% faster, NPU optimized by 49% and its GPU is said to be about 41% faster. That’s far more than an “annual update”. As such, the chipset should provide improved performance for photography, shooting videos and intense gaming sessions.
This processing power should allow it to capture and process photos more quickly, especially for shots that require AI post-processing work. It’s said that trillions of calculations per second are required for a phone to capture great pictures in low-lighting conditions, so it’s good to have as much power as possible on hand.
200MP Main Camera Sensor
The new 200MP Adaptive Pixel Sensor can capture high-quality shots within seconds. It uses pixel binning to accomplish clearer shots with less noise. We’ve tested the phone and found it to be an absolute Pro when it comes to taking pictures and videos.
The Expert RAW features built-in to the Camera app gives you better shooting and editing options similar to what you’d find on actual cameras. The RAW format offers more information that can be used during post-processing edits.
Other worthy mentions include doubled optical image stabilizer (OIS) angles for all directions, which should result in far smoother video footage. There’s also the improved ability to capture shots in poor lighting conditions compared to traditional phones.
The object-based AI system can analyze each detail in a frame to produce the best possible outcome for a picture. This includes a subject’s hair and eyes, so that the end result highlights one’s best characteristics.
You have the ability to record videos at up to 8K resolution at 30 frames per second with a wider angle than before. But keep in mind the higher the resolution, the more space you’ll need on your phone to store said file. Lowering it to 4K, 1080p or 720p will reduce the overall file size but in turn over a lower overall sharpness, respectively.
Large 6.8-inchEdge QHD+, 120Hz, Dynamic AMOLED Screen
AMOLED screens offer deep blacks and amazing color contrast, which is great for gaming and watching movies. With the S23 Ultra, that experience is amplified further because of its fairly large, 6.8-inch display. It’s big enough that reading lengthy PDFs or making annotations won’t cause much eye strain.
The phone can adjust the display’s refresh rate to be anywhere between 1 and 120Hz, depending on what’s happening on screen. This allows for more efficient use of power to accommodate what you’re doing.
Compared to the S22 Ultra’s unit, this display is flatter and offers less of arc at the edges. This results in more usable space for one to type or draw on. In terms of protection, it’s covered by Gorilla Glass Victus 2. This a little better than what its predecessor had, which in its defense, was already a pretty hardy material.
Better Cooling Solution & Real-Time Ray Tracing Ready
Samsung has given the S23 Ultra a larger vapor chamber, which is extremely beneficial to heat dissipation. An efficient cooling system will allow the phone to perform at its optimum levels for longer because the hardware can be kept cool enough for an extensive period of time.
In terms of future-proofing, the phone’s hardware supports ray tracing technology if and when it comes to the mobile gaming platform. Ray Tracing allows for more lifelike renderings of scenes because it is able to simulate the movement of light just like it would in real life. This will make for really enjoyable gameplay on smartphones.
It has A 5,000mAh Battery
Though it may not be of a gargantuan size, the S23 Ultra’s 5,000mAh battery is far larger than what’s available for most flagship phones. And thanks to clever power management technology, the phone can last for slightly more than a day without you having to reach for the charger.
When you do need to charge, it will be comforting to know that the phone supports up to 45W fast wired charging and 15W wireless charging technology (2.0). Samsung says that it will only take 30 minutes to charge the phone from 0% to 65% when connected to 45W wired charger. Though not groundbreaking, it’s more than enough for most of us.
