5 Smart Features of the Samsung Galaxy Buds2 Pro
October 10, 2022Samsung’s latest wireless earbuds are packed with technology. This is despite the fact that they are 15% smaller than their predecessor: Galaxy Buds Pro. Somehow, the company was able to miniaturize the hardware without having to “dumb down” the stuff inside. As such, you get a plethora of technology at your fingertips.
These features are easily accessible via the Wearables app. Besides pairing the buds to your smartphone, this application is able to control every aspect of your new Galaxy Buds2 Pro from the equalizer presets, touch controls to more advanced stuff like head tracking. Here are five of the most important ones that you need to know about:
Voice Detection
The earbuds are constantly listening to your voice and the moment that it’s detected, they instantly turn on ambient sound mode and lower the volume of your music. This action allows you to hear yourself speak and with relative accuracy, the responses of the people around you.
It’s on by default but you can also decide how long the earbuds need to wait (5, 10 or 15 seconds) after you’ve finished speaking to resume music playback and activate noise canceling mode.
Head Tracking (360 Audio)
360-degree audio allows the earbuds to produce a surround sound ambience around you. It’s eerily similar to having an actual band playing in between your ears. The sound hits you from multiple angles.
Taking this a step further is the head tracking feature. When your screen is left on, the earbuds try to mimic the propagation of the sound as though it was coming directly from your phone. If you move your head away from the screen, the audio will shifts as well, choosing to favor the earbud that’s closest to the phone.
Samsung says that this feature creates a more immersive experience especially for watching content like movies or short videos. This is available as long as your screen remains on. Once it goes to sleep, the audio returns to the original stereo setup.
In-Ear Detection for calls
This is a really cool feature. When enabled, your call audio is played through the earbuds as long as they remain in your ears. Once they are taken out, your phone’s loudspeaker takes over. I found it to be extremely useful for times when I switch between devices but want to continue conversing with the caller on the other end, uninterrupted.
Seamless earbud connection
When enabled, it will allow your Galaxy Buds2 Pro to seamlessly connect with other devices that are signed into your Samsung account. This can happen even if your earbuds haven’t been paired with said devices before. As long as you’ve signed into the same Samsung account across these devices, the earbuds are able to do the pairing work for you.
Neck Stretch Reminders
It’s a special feature to help you maintain a proper posture when at your desk. The app also provides periodic stretching exercises to limit neck and back pain. This is extremely useful to those of us who remain craned over our desks for extended periods of time.
Once calibrated (step by step instructions are provided), the Galaxy Buds2 Pro will remind you if you’ve been hunched over for at least 10 minutes. Helpful animated tips are provided to help you stretch and relieve pressure on your neck and back. In the long run, it could help lessen the likelihood of developing chronic pain in these areas.
