Apple has broken with convention and introduced the largest MacBook Air it has ever made. The 15-inch laptop has a 15.3-inch Liquid Retina display. Measuring just 11.5mm thick, it is also said to be the thinnest 15-inch laptop in the world with a fanless design.

Powering the machine is the M2 processor, which has an 8-core CPU with four performance cores and four efficiency cores, a 10-core GPU and 16-core Neural Engine. It also supports 100GB/s of memory bandwidth and up to 24GB of fast unified memory.

In terms of looks it’s similar in shape and design to the current 13-inch M2 MacBook Air. There’s a MagSafe charging port, 1080p FaceTime HD Camera tucked away in the notch, two Thunderbolt ports that allow you to connect up to a 6K external display and a 3.5mm headphone jack.

This 15-inch MacBook Air also features a 6-speaker sound system with two tweeters and two sets of force-cancelling woofers. Apple says that the speakers deliver twice the bass depth for a better sound experience. Spatial Audio with support for Dolby Atmos helps provide a more immersive experience while listening to music or watching movies.

Apple says that its largest fanless laptop offers 18-hours of battery life, proving that just like its smaller 13-inch brother, that it can deliver the same outstanding performance while offering impressive service life.

The three-mic array can capture clean audio using advanced beamforming algorithms so that that users can be heard clearly by the person on the other end. Expect more features when MacOS Sonoma is rolled out later this year. Apple says that will make the user experience more enjoyable and productive.

There will be better ways to personalize the experience with widgets, interesting screen savers, an optimized gaming experience with Game Mode, powerful video conferencing capabilities, a substantial update to Safari, as well as others.

The new 15-inch MacBook Pro is available to order today at apple.com/store and in the Apple Store app. It will be shipped to customers and physical Apple stores beginning on 13th June. Available in midnight, starlight, silver, and space gray, the new laptop starts at $1,299 (U.S.) and RM6,199 in Malaysia.

At the same time, Apple has reduced the price of the 13-inch MacBook Air with the M2 chip to $1,099 or RM5,199 in Malaysia. Visit Apple.com for more information.
