Apple Announces Best Apps Of 2021

Apple has announced the 2021 App Store Award winners. It’s an annual event meant to highlight apps that have made the most impact on users. This year 15 of the best apps and games across its range of products have been highlighted because they have “helped users tap into personal passions, discover creative outlets, connect with new people and experiences, and simply have fun”.

Speaking of the awards winners, Apple CEO, Tim Cook said, “The developers who won App Store Awards in 2021 harnessed their own drive and vision to deliver the best apps and games of the year. From self-taught indie coders to inspiring leaders building global businesses, these standout developers innovated with Apple technology.”

The winning apps are selected by Apple’s global App Store editorial team for delivering “exceptional quality, innovative technology, creative design, and positive cultural impact”. Cupertino didn’t state the exact metric it uses to decide which apps amke it, but it probably includes the number of downloads throughout the year.

The following is a list of apps that won this year:

  • iPhone App of the Year: Toca Life World, from Toca Boca
  • iPad App of the Year: LumaFusion, from LumaTouch
  • Mac App of the Year: Craft, from Luki Labs Limited
  • Apple TV App of the Year: DAZN, from DAZN Group
  • Apple Watch App of the Year: Carrot Weather, from Grailr
  • iPhone Game of the Year: “League of Legends: Wild Rift,” from Riot Games
  • iPad Game of the Year: “MARVEL Future Revolution,” from Netmarble Corporation
  • Mac Game of the Year: “Myst,” from Cyan
  • Apple TV Game of the Year: “Space Marshals 3,” from Pixelbite
  • Apple Arcade Game of the Year: “Fantasian,” from Mistwalker

Apple’s “App Awards” have been conducted in some way or form for more than a decade and honors the best apps and games for each respective year. Besides this, the company also highlights apps that are considered “Trend of the Year”. Apps on the list are said to have had a “lasting impact on people’s lives, and to recognize the standout apps and games that met that moment”.

This year’s trend is Connection, and according to Apple, the app winners brought people together while meeting social personally and professional needs for users around the world. These apps include “Among Us!”, Canva, EatOkra, Peanut and several others.
