Apple Continues Fight Against HIV/AIDS With (PRODUCT) RED

December 8, 2020 Off By Naveen Victor

Apple, an advocate of the fight to end the HIV/AIDS epidemic, will continue to support the cause through the (Product)RED initiative. This entails channeling proceeds from the sale of its bright red colored devices, toward Global Fund’s HIV/AIDS programs. Over the past 14 years, Cupertino has donated almost $250 million.

These efforts have helped fund programs for the prevention, testing, and counseling services. Since 2006, Apple supported grants have allowed 10.8 million people access to care and support services. It has also helped with distribution of more than 167 million HIV tests, and provided 13.8 million people with ongoing access to life-saving antiretroviral (ARV) treatment.

However, the COVID-19 pandemic has made the effort far more challenging. As such, Apple choose to redirect its funding to the Global Fund’s COVID-19 Response. This way, Cupertino was able to help reduce the impact of the pandemic on communities most affected by HIV/AIDS and provide critical hep to those who need it most.

Customers who purchase a new (PRODUCT) RED device are, in a way, contributing to the cause. All eligible proceeds from (PRODUCT)RED purchases to the Global Fund’s COVID-19 Response through June 30, 2021. In addition to this, Apple is donating $1 for every purchase made with Apple Pay on apple.com, in the Apple Store app, or at an Apple Store to the same fund.

If you are interested in supporting the movement, there several (PRODUCT) RED devices that can be picked up, which include iPhone 12 (PRODUCT)RED, iPhone 12 mini (PRODUCT)RED, and Apple Watch Series 6 (PRODUCT)RED.
