Apple Introduces New iPad Pro
March 19, 2020Though most of Apple’s stores outside of Greater China may still be closed, that didn’t stop Cupertino from launching the latest generation iPad Pro models. Both 11-inch and 12.9-inch models feature an improved design and hardware, allowing it to bridge the gap between tablet and laptop.
The company has included some new tech, which includes a powerful A12Z Bionic chip, that is said to offer laptop-like performance. Working together with the 8-core GPU, these new iPads are capable of editing 4K video and designing 3D models, tasks that are usually reserved for PCs.
Both models’ screens feature P3 wide color support that provide for a more vivid display for photos, videos and apps. The 120 Hz display improves to the experience, with ultra-smooth scrolling and better responsiveness. And like the new MacBook Pros, the new iPads feature five studio quality mics that automatically adjusts to any orientation.

There’s also a new crop of cameras that help the device take 4K video and better photos with a wider depth of field. There’s now a 12MP wide sensor and a 10MP ultra wide one. On the front, there’s a LiDAR scanner for better AR support. It works with both cameras and motion sensors to provide better augmented reality features.
But, the most anticipated feature has to be trackpad support. Along side the new iPad launch, Apple also introduced a Magic Keyboard, specifically designed these Pro tablets. The design mimics that of the MacBook with the dark grey design and chamfered edges.
It features unique cantilevered hinges that allow the magnetically docked iPad Pro to be adjusted with a viewing angle up to 130 degrees. That coupled with a sizable touchpad, brings the tablet’s abilities closer to that of a full-fledged computer. It has a USB-C port for charging and connecting external dives and displays.
And this is amplified further with improved gesture and touch support. The keys are backlit, and use a scissor mechanism. These PC-like updates are included in iPadOS 13.4, which should increase the level of productivity achievable on a tablet.
