Apple Takes A Dig At People Who Don’t Value Their Privacy

Online privacy isn’t a topic of great importance to many people. This is because they believe that, “since I have nothing to hide, then I have nothing to worry about”. That is true, to a certain extent. Unless you’re a high level government employee, celebrity or someone of importance, the probability of anyone wanting access to your data or photos, is low at best.

But that doesn’t mean that it’s acceptable to freely provide people with your personal information or intimate details of your life. That is why Apple has come up with a tongue-in-cheek response to those who are careless with their online activity. It’s an amusing depiction of our online habits and how oblivious we are toward ‘who’s listening in’.

Though it may seem like a gross exaggeration of our habits while online, there is some truth to what is being conveyed. We do not exercise caution when using unfamiliar web browsers or sites for online purchases. Besides this, and without hesitation, allow any and all apps access to our location at any given time.

The same is true of fitness apps. In the hopes of acquiring as much data as possible to improve our workouts and fitness regiments, we share our health data with any number of apps. Though it may seem harmless, the fact of having your personal health data floating around online, feels a little creepy.

Android users are far more likely to practice such habits than those from the iOS camp. Apple’s iron grip on its App Store and developers who have access to it, has created a more controlled environment for app development. That said, Android isn’t far off, but improvement is needed in a few key areas.
