For the second year in a row, Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) will be held as an online-only format. Taking place from June 7th to 11th, the event is used as a platform for Cupertino to offer insight into the future of iOS, iPadOS, macOS, watchOS, and tvOS.

Just like last year, the event is free for all developers, and will help them understand the company’s new technologies, tools, and frameworks for app development. In previous years, Apple hosted a large-scale gathering of developers from all over the world for its annual WWDC. However, the pandemic has forced it to change the format.

“We love bringing our developers together each year at WWDC to learn about our latest technologies and to connect them with Apple engineers,” said Susan Prescott, Apple’s vice president of Worldwide Developer Relations and Enterprise and Education Marketing.

She added, “We are working to make WWDC21 our biggest and best yet, and are excited to offer Apple developers new tools to support them as they create apps that change the way we live, work, and play.”

This year’s Swift Student Challenge, a platform used to give an opportunity for young developers to demonstrate their coding skills, will be held online too. To do this, they are asked to create an interactive scene in a Swift playground that can be experienced within three minutes.

In case you didn’t know, Swift Playgrounds is an app for iPad and Mac that makes Apple’s Swift programming language, a fun and interactive affair. Now till April 19th, students can submit their entries for the Swift Student Challenge.

According to the company, it will “share additional program information in advance of WWDC21 through the Apple Developer app, on the Apple Developer website, and via email.”
