Coke Zero Sugar Is Getting A New Look And Taste

July 14, 2021 Off By Naveen Victor

The Coca-Cola Company is changing the flavor of its Coke Zero Sugar. It wants to give the beverage “an even more delicious and refreshing recipe – and bold new packaging”. Now, we don’t know what will change but the ingredients will remain the same its just being tweaked slightly. The packaging will be refreshed too.

“Recognizing that tastes and preferences are always evolving, we’re focused on continuous improvement to give fans the best-tasting Coca-Cola they want—with zero sugar or calories,” said Rafael Prandini, Coca-Cola TM Category Lead, North America Operating Unit

Instead of the iconic black bands, the revamped look will have a similar appearance to the regular Coke design. The only difference is in the lettering, which is black in color, and placed towards the top section. It’s already available in Europe and Latin America, but should hit shelves in the U.S. and Canada sometime between August and September.

Despite the changes, Coca-Cola says that all listed ingredients and nutritional information remains the same. The change is supposed to be in line with the company’s strategy of offering beverages that cater to a variety of tastes. It believes that it needs to keep abreast with changes made by competitors and do the same to improve its own drinks.

As it was with the original Coke Zero Sugar, the company will have a marketing and sampling campaign to invite new consumers to try the new flavor and find out for themselves if its an improvement over the older one. I personally see no reason for change, but Coca-Cola believes the contrary to be true.

Coca-Cola Zero Sugar was initially launched in 2005, however it took several years before it caught on in other parts of the world. In 2017, it was reformulated to taste even closer to the regular, sugar-filled Coca-Cola. Could it be that the 2021 reformulation is supposed to make it taste the same as regular Coke?
