5 Cool Things The S22 Ultra Can Do

May 1, 2022 Off By Naveen Victor

The Samsung S22 Ultra is one of the most powerful Android phones on the market and as a result, it is also one of the most expensive ones. The base model with 8GB RAM retails for RM5,099. That figure balloons to RM RM5,899 if you choose the configuration with 12GB RAM and 512GB of storage. Take a look at our Buyers’ Guide for more details on the S22 Series for more information.

Why is the phone so expensive? Well, you’re getting the best chipset on the market that’s capable of offering near PC-like performance, powerful camera hardware, vivid, 120Hz display that adjusts individual areas of the screen, S Pen support and very capable AI software that strings these individual strengths together.

As a result, there are a number of cool things you can do, making the S22 Ultra the only device you’ll need to carry on your person. Here’s what we mean:

Draw & Take Notes
The first Ultra to incorporate an S-Pen into its internal frame, the S22 Ultra is basically a Note. As such, it is gifted with the various functions for note taking, annotations, smart selections and doodling. The stylus tip, which is 0.7mm allows for accurate control over movements. This allows you to form words or drawings with more confidence.

When time is of the essence, you can quickly pull out the S Pen and start jotting down important information. This is even possible when the screen is turned off, allowing you time to capture more of what you want to hear.

Air Mouse & Camera Shutter Button
The S22 Ultra’s S Pen is Bluetooth enabled. This means it maintains an active connection with the phone when in use, which allows you to use it as an air mouse. Instead of touching individual areas on the large 6.8-inch Dynamic AMOLED display, the same tasks can be achieved by mere flicks of your wrist.

When you want to capture selfies with friends, just hold the phone out in front of you and click the top of the S Pen. This automatically turns it into a shutter button, relieving you of the choir of faffing about with the phone buttons.

Nightography
It can be extremely difficult to capture great moments at night. This is especially true when you’re out in the town and would like to capture a candid moment. But in most instances the scarcity of proper ambient lighting ruins the experience. Well, that isn’t a problem for the Ultra as it’s able to capture decent photos by working with what it has.

The camera sensors work with the AI algorithm to capture and process photos to look extra bright and sharp. We noticed this during our Nightography session, read more about it here. The gist of it is, the Ultra removes the limitations of night time photo taking.

Use It As A PC
Samsung’s flagship phones and tablets support the DeX interface. It’s Samsung’s unique PC-like UI that allows you to accomplish computer related tasks on your phone. To do this, you’ll need to connect it to an external monitor. The software detects this connection, then outputs the feed to the screen, allowing you to use the phone itself as a separate screen or a mousepad.

It’s quite useful for people who cling to their phones throughout the day and worry about continuity issues when jumping from one machine to the other. With the DeX method, you’re using the same device, it’s just there’s more of it to use thanks to the large monitor. This works for TVs as well, but we can’t guarantee that you’ll receive the same level of productivity.

Battery Bank
The S22 Ultra supports reverse charging. And though many consider it a gimmick, it has come in handy a few times. Due to the relatively large number of gadgets that I carry with me each day, I occasionally forget to charge one or two of them. This is especially true of my Galaxy Buds Pro and smartwatch.

Since the Ultra has a 5,000mAh battery, it has enough charge to juice up my wireless earbuds or smartphone just so that I can get to the end of my day without them dying on me. I wouldn’t recommend doing it too often though, because you’ll probably deplete the Ultra’s battery charge as well.
