ColorOS13 Offers Useful Spotify Integration

OPPO recently announced a new partnership with Spotify, which happens to be one of the leading audio streaming services right now. The deal will see useful and customizable music experience on OPPO smartphones that are running its latest Android based operating system, ColosOS13.

“Our partnership with Spotify represents a new exploration into the possibilities of smartphone operating systems,” said Gary Chen, Head of OPPO Software Product. “Through smart, convenient, and human-centric features developed with our partners, we are bringing a more intelligent and efficient operating system to users.”

Instead of having to sift through the app drawer to access the app, OPPO has managed to integrate the Spotify app with the ColorOS UI. The idea is to help users access their music, podcasts and audiobooks in the most convenient way possible. Here are a few of said ways:

Smart Always-On Display (AOD) – Users can find out what’s playing by glancing at their AOD or double-clicking on the music control panel, without having to wake up the device. This integration also lets users access and control playback when needed, without having to unlock the phone.

Access it from the Shelf – OPPO’s new Shelf feature in ColorOS13 includes an in-built Spotify Card containing content recommendations. This also gives users access to their music on Spotify with a slide of the finger.

Home Screen Widgets – ColorOS13 lets you add a Spotify widget to the home screen for quick and easy access to your music.

Integration With the Clock app – Users can set their alarm to go off with the sound of their favorite Spotify tracks, playlists or podcasts. This is also an inadvertent nod to the old school alarm clock radios of yesteryear.

In case you didn’t know ColorOS 13 is a reskinned/retooled version of Google’s vanilla, Android 13. The Chinese smartphone maker adds its own features on top of what Google provides, to create a uniquely “OPPO experience”. They include Multi-Screen Connect, Meeting Assistant, Smart AOD, and Home Screen Management.
