Samsung Electronics today announced the Exynos-2100 (www.youtube.com/samsung) through its first virtual press conference, Exynos-On 2021 (www.youtube.com/samsung). Designed on the most advanced 5 nanometer (nm) extreme ultra-violet (EUV) process node, the new mobile processor is the company’s first premium 5G-integrated processor.

“Our Exynos team has been committed to developing processors that raise the bar in mobile computing experiences,” said Inyup Kang, President of System LSI Business at Samsung Electronics. “Exynos 2100, our most advanced mobile chip yet, is further proof of Samsung’s unwavering commitment to accelerating 5G adoption through continuous innovation.”

“At Samsung Electronics, we engage in innovative device and service innovation with our flagship smartphones and deliver the ultimate mobile experience to our customers,” said Kyeongjun Kim, Executive Vice President and head of Mobile R&D Office at the Mobile Communications Business Division, Samsung Electronics. “The Exynos 2100 offers the ultimate performance thanks to powerful processing, fast 5G connectivity, and intelligent AI acceleration. All in all, it met our strict requirements and backed our rigorous quality standards.”

The chip has been designed to surpass the performance power user’s expectations in terms of computation and graphics processing. As Samsung’s first 5G-integrated flagship mobile processor, the Exynos 2100 is built on an advanced 5nm EUV process thus allowing a 20% reduction in power consumption or 10% improvement in overall performance compared to the previous 7nm generation.

The octa-core chip is an enhancement offered with improved cache memory utilization and a stronger scheduler. The new Cortex-A55 and A76 cores deliver more than 30% greater multi-core throughput than the predecessor.

The Arm Mali™-G78, which supports the latest APIs such as Vulkan and OpenCL, enhances graphics by over 40 percent for striking and seamless graphics, enabling the most intense ever indoor experiences, ranging from gaming and AR/VR to the most intricate architectural models and digital mapping applications.

The Exynos 2100 also supports AMIGO, a multi-IP governor that manages the power usages of the CPU and GPU, making it possible to use the device for longer while doing intensive on-screen activities. Samsung constantly updates its software and hardware to improve their energy efficiency. It also continues striving to minimize the carbon footprint of tomorrow’s mobile devices.

The Exynos 2100 can connect to up to six individual sensors and is able to process four of them simultaneously for a richer multi-camera experience. With a multi-camera and frame processor, the ISP can combine camera feeds to extend zooming capabilities, enhance image quality for ultra wide shots and more.

Using AI acceleration, the ISP offers a Content-Aware feature that quickly recognizes scenes, faces, and objects, and optimizes picture settings to capture the image with greater detail.

The Exynos 2100 supports both mmWave and sub-6GHz 5G spectrum for reliable access and network coverage. The modem promises download speeds of up to 5.1-gigabits a second in sub-six-gigahertz and 7.35Gbps at mmWave, or up to 3.0Gbps in four G bands with 1024 quadrature amplitude modulation.
