Smart Vacuum, Takes Cleaning To Next Level

Robot or autonomous vacuum cleaners are commonplace in most smart homes. They take the tedium out of having to lug a heavy manual vacuum throughout your home. Samsung’s new JetBot 90 AI+, which was revealed at CES, is supposed to be an extremely intelligent vacuum that takes self-cleaning, to a whole new level. It can detect over 1 million images of household items.

It’s AI tech is powered by intel, which enables it to use cutting-edge object recognition software to detect objects and identify ones to avoid and ones to clean. This circular vacuum makes use of LiDAR and 3D sensors to navigate around the home. Similar to that found in autonomous cars, the LiDAR system helps it navigate your house and access hard to reach places.

The 3D sensors allow it to maneuver past obstacles without missing any cleanable spaces. This JetBot is able to detect distances up to 20 feet away and rotate 360 degrees when needed. It’s AI tech helps it recognize objects such as sofas, bookshelves, tables, towels, and electrical cables.

Once the cleaning is complete, the JetBot 90 AI+ returns to its Clean Station dock where it automatically empties its waste into a dustbin. This dock only requires a bag change once every two to three months. There’s a blue LED notification light that alerts you with the bag is full.

According to Samsung, “Dirt, dust, and hair is emptied into a dust bag through a filtration system that traps 99.999% of pollutants the vacuum captures and prevents them from being released back into your home.”

Since it is fitted with a front camera and upgraded smart controls, it’s possible for users to connect to this vacuum via the SmartThings mobile app. You can use the app to see where the vacuum is cleaning in real time, schedule cleanings, and specify ‘no-go zones’ on a map of your home.
