Samsung has set August 5th as the date for its next Galaxy Unpacked event. According to the company’s press release, it hinted that it would reveal more than one device. Some, including CNET have speculated that this is a nod to the reveal of the upcoming Note20 and Fold 2.

This is what was stated in the press release:

“On August 5, join us for a Galaxy Unpacked virtual event to explore our latest ecosystem of Galaxy devices designed to empower your life. Live streaming of the event will be available at Samsung.com at 10 a.m. ET.”

The Note line is due for a refresh and the Note20 is expected to combine the cutting edge elements first seen on the S20 line into a streamlined package. Several renderings of the phone that have floated on social media, including one outed by Samsung itself, portray a device with the elegance of the Note10 but maximized screen real estate.

Samsung’s Fold 2, the wild card of the two, may have been brought into the fold, no pun intended, to reignite the need for a folding phablet. The original device, was mired in controversy thanks in part to a rigid hinge and less than stellar screen durability. It’s successor on the other hand, may have picked up a few tricks from the Z Flip.

As such, we shouldn’t discount the necessity for a second Galaxy Fold, especially one without a shoddy folding mechanism. A folding phablet would negate the need to carry two separate devices – phone and tablet.

Whatever the case maybe, we wait with baited breath for the Galaxy Unpacked event, this coming August. Stay tuned and we will let you know more as we find out!
