The Search giant is now allowing Google Pay users in the US to wire money to other Google Pay users in India and Singapore thanks to a tie up with Western Union and Wise. By the end of the year, the list will grow to include 200 recipient countries with the help of Western Union and 80 others through Wise.

As a means to attract more people to the platform, from now till June 16, Western Union will offer unlimited free transfers when sending money with Google Pay. Wise will make the first transfer free for new customers on transfers up to $500.

What makes the prospect of using Google Pay very enticing is the fact that it also has tools to help manage and curb expenditures. Google teamed up with Safeway to make it easier to find weekly grocery deals within the app. You should be able to find deals on a multitude of items across Safeway and Target stores across the US.

Beside this, the app already supports buying and using mobile transit tickets in more than 80 cities and towns across the US. Improvements are being made to make it even easier to access transit tickets from the home screen. Once you’ve purchased a transit card, there’s no need to unlock the phone to access the information. You just need to hold it to the reader.

Lastly, Google Pay tabulates your purchases into categories or businesses. If you tap on food, it will give you the total amount you’ve spent during a particular month as well as a list of purchases related to said category. You could narrow the search further by searching for burgers or a specific business like Burger King to assess what you’ve spent your money on.

Google Pay has come a long way since its humble beginnings. Not only can it help manage local expenses, it now allows you to send money overseas and track said transactions. It’s trying to be an all-in-one money management app for the average consumer. Our hope for the near future is that Google Pay is made accessible to users outside the US.
