Google’s Chat GPT Competitor, Bard Can Help With Programming
April 23, 2023 Off By Naveen VictorBard, Google’s generative AI competitor to Chat GPT is expanding its usefulness to cover programming and software development tasks. This also includes code generation, debugging and the ability to explain said code. This is great news for people who are new to coding or having trouble resolving a problem.
Besides this, the helpful AI tool can also write functions for Google Sheets as well as understand more than 20 programming languages including C++, Go, Java, Javascript, Python and Typescript.
Besides providing you with code, Bard can also be told to fix errors of others or its own work. It can also improve its work by making the generated code more efficient. This could prove to be a great help for programmers with specific problems or those of us who are out of depth at creating decent code.
That said, Google would like to reiterate that Bard’s functionality is still in the experimental stage. As such it may provide inaccurate, misleading or false information. It could also give you code that doesn’t work or causes errors. This is why it’s never a good idea to accept code provided by any generative AI system as the Gospel truth.
Instead, it’s important that you test the code for errors, bugs and vulnerabilities before attempting to implement it in any capacity. However, Google says that if Bard quotes information from an existing open-source project, it will cite said source.
Besides programming, the Search giant says that Bard is able to help people with everyday tasks like creating presentations, lesson plans, new recipes and planning workout routines. If you would like to gain access to Bard, you’ll need to register for the waitlist. Unlike Chat GPT, Google is only allowing a limited number of people to access its system for the time being.
