iFixit Take The Apple Watch SE6 Apart

Apple’s Watch Series 6 is its most advanced smartwatch yet. Despite looking fairly similar to the outgoing Series 5, the device has a few neat tricks up its sleeve. The always-on display is 2.5 times brighter (when your hand is down) compared to the previous generation watch, yet offers the same 18-hour battery life.

But this pales in comparison to the Series 6’s ability to monitor fitness and medical data. Despite its minuscule size, Apple’s watch can detect when you’ve fallen down and decide to call for help, measure your hearth rhythm for signs of abnormalities and measure your blood oxygen level. It’s far more than just a digital chronometer, it’s a virtual coach and assistant too.

iFixit, everyone’s favorite ‘teardown gurus’ have taken a knife to Cupertino’s new gadget. And by adopting a meticulous technique, managed to dissemble the watch to the point where each component could be identified. It’s a fascinating process, and one that shows how much tech can be sandwiched into a square box that is no bigger than a pack of gum.
