Intel’s acquisition of Rivet Networks, a leading player in the software and cloud-based technologies space, is one of several purchases that it has made in recent years. Previously, the company acquired Moovit, a transportation management platform to aid its AI and driverless tech development.

Adding Rivet Networks to its portfolio, will allow Intel to enrich its WiFi product line and further the development of more advanced cloud based platforms. The former’s products maximize Wi-Fi bandwidth utilization and optimize wireless network connections. They prioritize network traffic with Ethernet and WiFi management.

The company’s team will merge with Intel’s Wireless Solutions Group within the Client Computing Group. The chipmaker has big plans for Rivet Networks, which include licensing its software to customers and develop new solutions for broader PC connectivity tools.

Now that the world is turning to online platforms as a means to weather the COVID-19 storm, Intel’s buying spree may seem warranted. These acquired technologies will help it leapfrog the competition and achieve its aim of becoming a dominant player in the cloud computing space.
